HUAWEI WATCH3 is still complete.

Engadget launched the 2021 Select Program at the end of the year and the beginning of the year to introduce recommended gadgets and services. From now on, we will report again the comments of Mr. Ryuya Yamamoto, who responded a lot in 2021.

Huawei launched its new smartwatch "HUAWEI WATCH3" on August 6th. This is the first smartwatch equipped with an independent operating system HarmmonyOS.

When it comes to the company's smartwatch, it is characterized by good design and good battery holding. HUAWEI WATCH GT2 has been launched in China, but its design gives people the impression that it is similar to its 42 mm model. Put the silicon belt motion model and the leather belt classic model online.

Have the opportunity to try out such a HUAWEI WATCH3 for a few days and simply provide you with comments.

A beautifully designed large smartwatch

The display is 1.43in AMOLED with a resolution of 466x466 pixels. Although the baffle is slightly popularized, it complements the circular design and pays little attention to it. In addition, the body size is also 46 mm, although very large, but there is no strange feeling, suitable for any clothing.

The side of the fuselage is equipped with a rotary crown (faucet) and a square side button. The crown can be rotated to scroll and adjust the volume of the screen.

The back is equipped with a heart rate sensor. In addition to heart rate, it also supports the measurement of blood oxygen concentration (SpO2). At the same time, skin temperature can also be measured.

In addition, charging is wireless using a dedicated bracket, but it complies with the Qi standard, and it can also be charged in reverse at the usual wireless charging station and the back of the smartphone.

As a function, it supports more than 100 kinds of exercise measurements. You can also install applications from HUAWEI AppGallery using a smartwatch alone. By the way, I don't feel the special "HarmmonyOS feature", which gives the impression of the same HUAWEI smartwatch as before.

 HUAWEI WATCH 3は相変わらずの完成度

In addition, although it is a rare beautiful and large display, there is little chance to see the picture during the trial. Heart rate and blood oxygen are often measured, but they are not always visible. E-mail and other notifications will be seen when they come, but as with previous models, only the subject can be confirmed.

Health care data collection is excellent, heart rate, blood oxygen concentration needless to say, outdoor running can also measure VO2Max (maximum oxygen uptake). And in this day and age, it is also possible to measure the skin temperature (body surface temperature) of the wrist.

By default, each measurement is manual, but you can also change from a setting to an automatic continuous measurement. Because it is not a medical device, it is only a reference degree, and you can grasp your health by confirming the temperature changes when you go to bed and when you get up. By the way, although affected by the external temperature, the temperature of the wrist is about the normal range of 32 ℃ to 34 ℃.

Skin temperature, if SpO2 is often measured as ON, the battery holding capacity is about 1 day.

Measurements on HUAWEI WATCH3 can be found in HUAWEI Health, the smartphone's peer app. In addition, although there is an application with the same name on Google Play, applications installed from there cannot use HUAWEI WATCH3. If you installed it from HUAWEI AppGallery or have already installed it, you need to update it in the HUAWEI AppGallery version. So far, users who use HUAWEI WATCH GT2 and so on need to pay attention.

The AppGallery version is basically no different from the version installed on Google Play. As for the display of various measured values, it is as easy to see as ever, and each project is described in detail, which is very excellent.

By default, skin temperature and blood oxygen are measured every time. This can also be changed from setting to automatic measurement.

However, if these are enabled, the battery will only last about a day. Owning a smartwatch for about 3 days is a good place for HUAWEI smartwatches, which is annoying. Having said that, the skin temperature is the place where you want to measure automatically and continuously, so is it a last resort?

With this in mind, the completion of the smartwatch is still high and the availability of the application is good. If the battery is not good, the convenience of Qi charging can be covered.

However, the price on HUAWEI's official website is 50, 380 yen for the sports model and 54, 780 yen for the classical model, giving the impression that it is a bit difficult to sell. If there is no need to measure the body surface temperature, a slightly cheaper HUAWEI WATCH GT2 is also possible.

By the way, this trial is an overseas version that supports eSIM, but shows technical suitability.

The domestic model does not support eSIM, but we also look forward to the launch of the eSIM carrying mode.
