How to restore LINE talk history, iPhone version and Android version

If you interact with your friends or leave a message from your official account, LINE's talk history will increase in a blink of an eye. If you delete "Your smartphone doesn't have enough space, let's organize it", you may inadvertently delete an important message. In such a case, if you back it up, you can restore the LINE talk history.

Here, we will explain how to restore from iCloud or Google Drive, which was introduced in "How to back up LINE talk history". Restoration is recommended when connecting to Wi-Fi because the amount of data communication is high. The talk history that can be restored is only the data backed up to iCloud or Google Drive. Be aware that unbacked talk history cannot be restored once it has been deleted.

Restore LINE talk history on iPhone

To restore LINE talk history on your iOS device, you need to uninstall the LINE app from your device once. After that, reinstall the LINE app and authenticate your phone number. It is almost the same as the procedure for changing the model, so it is recommended to restore it only when there is a big trouble.

Tap "Login" on the reinstalled LINE app. Follow the instructions to enter your email address, verify your phone number, and verify your age. After authentication, the "Restore Talk History" screen will be displayed automatically. Tap "Restore talk history from backup" to start restoration.

Restore LINE talk history on Android

On Android devices, you can restore your talk history from within the LINE app. You don't even need to uninstall the app. Tap the setting icon from the "Friends" screen of LINE, and select "Backup & Restore Talk History" in "Talk". If you select "Restore" there, the talk history will be restored.

Since we exchanged most recently, messages that have not been backed up to Google Drive will remain in the talk history even after being restored and will not disappear.
