Notify the other party's name with Siri's voice when the iPhone receives a call

When someone calls your iPhone, you don't want to know the name of the person before answering. Depending on who the caller is, my attitude will change. However, today's wireless earphones are equipped with a call function, so you can answer without looking at the iPhone screen. While convenient, responding without knowing the person's name may be a gamble.

When an iPhone receives a call

The iPhone has a feature that allows you to know the name of the person you are calling before answering an incoming call without looking at the screen. The iPhone's voice assistant "Siri" queries the other party's phone number to the "Contacts" app and reads out the owner's name.

Easy to set up. Open the screen in the order of "Settings" → "Phone" → "Voice Notification" and select "Headphones and Cars" or "Headphones Only". If you select "Always notify", you will hear the name of the person you are calling from the iPhone's built-in speaker when earphones are not connected, so be careful.

Please note that names can only be read out to people who have a mobile or landline number in their Contacts app. If you receive a call from an unregistered number, it will be read out as "unknown caller". Anonymous calls are also treated as "unknown callers", so even an incoming call from an acquaintance will be indistinguishable from an anonymous caller.

The same applies to incoming calls from SNS calling services, but the service name such as "LINE Audio" is read aloud. In the case of SNS, voice calls are basically made by acquaintances, so you can respond with peace of mind compared to "unknown callers".
