Toshiba "dynabook Tab S80 / S68"

The design of this model is very similar to the dynabook Tab S80 and S68, which are the models that appeared in July, and the "dynabook Tab S38" and "S50", which are compatible with the new type of pen and in appearance. A mechanism for storing the pen will be added. Checking the product site, it seems that the dynabook Tab S38 / S50 will also be sold together, and the dynabook Tab S68 / S80 is pen compatible, the S50 / S38 is not pen compatible, and the specifications are slightly different, so it seems that they will live separately.

First, let's check the appearance. Both models have a LCD panel resolution of 1,280 x 800 dots. It also supports touch operations. It claims a high viewing angle, and although there is little change in color even when viewed from a shallow angle, the reflection is rather annoying, probably because of the surface coat.

The color of the back cover is still "Satin Gold". The side is a color close to beige, and this slight color coding is a good impression.

The camera is common to both models, with about 8 million pixels on the back and about 1.2 million pixels on the front. Compared to the dynabook Tab S38 / S50, the back side is improved from about 5 million pixels.

Let's look at the size individually. First of all, the 8-inch dynabook Tab S68 has a size of 132 x 210.7 x 9.6 mm (width x depth x height). Compared to the dynabook Tab S38, it has the same footprint but is 0.1mm thicker. Perhaps this is a trade-off with support for new pen technology. However, since it is 0.1 mm, it cannot be said that the difference can be felt. Weight is about 395g. When I actually measured it, it was 376g. The measured value in the dynabook Tab S38 review by Toshiyasu Hirasawa was 373.5g, so it is a heavy calculation of about 2.5g, but it can be said that it is an error. The weight of the pen was 17g, so if you add this, it will be 393g, which is almost the same as the specification of 395g.

The dynabook Tab S80 is 258.8 x 175 x 9.1 mm (same as above). This is also 0.1mm thicker than the dynabook Tab S50 with the same footprint. It weighs about 565g and is actually 553g. This is 570g when you add a pen, so it is a little heavier than the specification. In addition, the result was about 15g heavier than the measured value at the time of the dynabook Tab S50 review.

The difference between the two models is that the orientation of the TOSHIBA logo is on the lower side when holding vertically on the dynabook Tab S68, on the lower side when holding horizontally on the dynabook Tab S80, and the stereo speaker on the dynabook Tab S68. The weight of the dynabook Tab S80, which is not found in the dynabook Tab S80, is actually 553g. The rear camera of the dynabook Tab S80 also has about 8 million pixels. The front camera of the dynabook Tab S80, which has improved pixels compared to the dynabook Tab S50, also has about 1.2 megapixels. The pen weighs about 17g. The included AC adapter is common. According to the engraving, it is a 5V x 2A output 10W type.The included USB cable for charging has an L-shaped Micro USB terminal side. The weight of the AC adapter including the USB cable was 74g in actual measurement.
