Initial setting of NEBO

In this article, we will introduce how to use NEBO, focusing on functions that can be used in the free version.At the first startup, the initial setting screen for recognizing handwriting input will be displayed as follows, so set according to the instructions on the screen.

By default, the recognition language does not contain Japanese, so it is necessary to add it at the initial setting stage.

NEBO can specify recognition languages for each notebook.However, only one notebook can be created in the free version.The first note will be performed at the initial setting.

Basic operation of NEBO

Once the initial setting is completed, let's do the tutorial first.You can learn how to use the basic gestures.Tap the "help" at the bottom of the main screen and select "Basic operation" from the menu to start the tutorial.

You can practice five gestures in the tutorial.

In addition to the basic operation, it is a good idea to read the "keyboard and pen", "page" and "free form page".This is not a tutorial but a short video commentary.

Let's actually use it.NEBO manages files with the three -level structure of "Collection", "Lapbook", and "Page".In the free version, only one collection and notebook can be created, so only the page can be added freely.

If you tap the "+" icon, you will see three menus, "New page", "Free form page", and "import as PDF" as follows. Select "New Page".The free form page will be described later.Import as a PDF is a paid version function.

The toolbar is very simple, with keyboard input and pen switching, selection tools, and color palette.

The title of the page can be tapped and changed.For pen, markers, and eraser, you can select the thickness by tapping the icon again in the selected state.For the color palette, any color can be added with the [+] icon at the right end.

To write a text, you can start writing letters by hand with the pen lines on the screen.When you write the text, the result of the text conversion in real time is displayed right above.At this point, only the candidate is displayed and no conversion has been performed, and handwritten letters remain.To convert it to a text, tap the text twice with a finger (not a pen).Then, the written content is converted into text at once.

In NEBO, the content written in the page is managed in units called "Object".Conversion to text is basically performed in this object.The arrangement and size of the object can be changed by dragging with finger.

When you tap the […] icon at the top right of the object, a pop -up menu for operating the object is displayed as follows.Selecting [Conversion] in this menu can also be converted to text.

In the converted text, the default that can apply five types of formats: "Title (H1)", "Subtitle (H2)", "Paragraph", "Bullet", and "Numbered List" will be treated as a paragraph., As shown in the figure below, if you draw 20 yen under the text, it will be treated as a title, and one line will be treated as a subtitle.

If you want to make a bullet, hit the point in front of each item.If you attach a number and period instead of a point, it will be a number list.

The format selection can also be selected from the menu by tapping the upper left of the character object as follows, in addition to the handwriting by hand in the above method.

Use of smart objects

NEBO can write photos, illustrations, figures and formulas in addition to letters.These elements are called "smart objects".To add a smart object, tap the [+] icon at the top right of the page.

If you select "Camera" or "Image", you can paste the image taken with the camera or an image selected from the album.

"Sketch" is an object that can draw handwritten illustrations.It is not suitable for drawing complex pictures because there are few types of pen, but if it is a simple figure, it plays a good role.

If you want to draw a figure like a flowchart, use "Diagram".In the diagram, the handwritten shapes as shown in the figure can be converted to a digital diagram.When the shape is double tapped with a finger, the shape is converted to a diagram.The batch conversion is performed in the top right pop -up menu as in the case of characters.

The interesting thing is the "formula" object.Like the letters, the formula is converted to text, but not only is it converted, but it also displays the calculation result if it is a simple formula.Normally, it is a little troublesome to enter a formula using a keyboard, but NEBO is convenient because it converts the one entered by handwritten neatly.

Whether you want to cut off / round up when calculating, or display the unit of the angle and calculation result can be set from the pop -up menu.

Handwritten free form

The "free form" at the bottom of the smart object menu is for embedding a handwritten section.The free form is an area that has no conversion function to digital text, so that it can be used like a handwritten sketchbook.Texts and other smart objects cannot be placed, but photos and images can be applied.

The free form section, unlike the smart object, cannot change the width and always needs to be a little bit of the width of the page, so you need to pay attention to the layout.

An interesting feature of the free form is that you can choose which object to copy when copying the selection.If you select the range you want to copy using the selection tool, the option of "copy method ..." will be displayed in the menu as shown below.

If you select this, you can specify which object to copy the selection as follows.

For example, if you copy it as a formula, it will automatically become a mathematical object, and you will be able to convert it to text.

If you select "New Free Form Page" from the menu when creating a new page, the entire page will be a handwritten page with a free form.If you use it as a sketchbook, you should use a free form page rather than a normal page.
