Is there a problem with the latest version of the "Google" app for Android? There is a problem that cannot be started in some environments [fixed version of the app released]: Google is investigating the cause

From the afternoon of June 22nd, there were reports on social media that the "Google" app on Android devices could not be started. If this problem occurs, it may be resolved by disabling the app and trying to update to the latest version again.

On June 23rd, Google released the latest version of the app that fixes this problem.

[Postscript: 18:50] Google has released a provisional countermeasure. Along with that, I added a postscript to the paragraph "How to deal with it?" Added link to article

What kind of problems do you encounter?

This problem has occurred on some devices with the latest Google app delivered on June 21st. The following phenomena can be seen on the terminal where the problem occurs.

Latest

On a device with a problem, a dialog box like this "'Google' has stopped repeatedly" appears frequently

How do I deal with this?

Based on the information I verified, I was able to reproduce the problem on 2 of the 5 models. However, unlike the "Android System WebView" and "Google Chrome" problems that occurred before, it does not occur on all terminals, and it seems that it may or may not occur on the same model.

As mentioned earlier, at the time of writing the article, Google was investigating the issue. When I tried the following operation on the terminal where the problem occurred, I was able to confirm that the problem was resolved or the frequency of occurrence decreased. Please note that this is only "the author's case", so if you try it, please do so at your own risk (item names and operation methods may differ depending on the model).

If the Google app is left disabled, apps that depend on it will not work properly. Be careful not to leave the app disabled. Disabling the app also removes the Google Search widget from the home screen. Try to add it from the home screen after reactivating it.

If you disable it, then enable it, and update again, the symptoms may be alleviated or even resolved

Google also announced a temporary countermeasure

Google At around 18:20 on June 22nd, "Google Community" released a temporary workaround for this problem. The procedure is as follows (item names and operation methods may differ depending on the model).

If you use this method, some settings of the app provided by Google will be initialized. For applications and functions whose settings have been initialized, reset them again.

Google plans to delete all Google data stored on devices as an interim measure
