＜目次＞コロナウイルスによる全世界を巻き込むパンデミックが発生し、ウィズコロナと言われる時期が続いている。収束の兆しがはっきりと見えない中、米国のGAFA（グーグル、アップル、フェイスブック、アマゾン）や中国のBATH（バイドゥ、アリババ、テンセント、ファーウェイ）といったデジタルプラットフォーマーがさらに業績を伸ばし、強みを増している。つまり一見ビフォーコロナの世界がさらに先鋭化したように見える。だが田中氏は、「何百年に一度、つまり今の人類が体験したことがない危機に直面したことで、人間も自然界の一員であることが露わになっています。これはコロナに限らず、環境問題やゲリラ豪雨なども含まれます。その意味で、自然の摂理に結局従わざるを得ないことが明らかになった。そしてこのような非常に大きな変革期には、その直前に押し寄せていた本質的な変化が加速することが繰り返されてきました」と言う。では本質的な変化とは何か。たとえば2020年1月開催の「CES2020」で最大に注目を集めたセッションは、AppleおよびFacebook、P&GのCPO（チーフ・プライバシー・オフィサー）、FTCのコミッショナーらが参加した「チーフプライバシーオフィサー・ラウンドテーブル」というパネルディスカンションだった。「データは21世紀の石油」と言われるほどデータが重視されているが、データ活用とプライバシーを両立しなければならないという強い社会的要請がビフォーコロナの段階で起こっていたのである。田中氏の著書『2025年のデジタル資本主義』でも触れているが、欧米のプライバシー規制であるCCPAやGDPRの成立・施行もこの文脈の中に位置づけられる。GAFAやBATHといえども、この潮流には抗えない。事実、プライバシー重視で高い評価を受けるAppleでさえも、規制当局からは取り組みがまだ十分でないと批判されている。関連記事▲ Close ▼ All display
コロナショックで実際に起こっていることとは何だろうか。田中氏は、需要ショック・供給ショック・金融ショックのトリプル・ショックだと言う。「不要不急の外出の自粛に伴い消費が減少して企業が減収し、それに伴い個人の収入も減少して、ますます需要が冷え込んでいるのが需要ショック。時短営業や店舗閉鎖、営業停止あるいはサプライチェーンの遮断などが供給ショック。この需要ショックと供給ショックが同時に起こっていることが、ECを手掛けるなどデジタルでビジネス展開しているデジタルプラットフォーマーにとって有利な展開につながっています」（田中氏）米国でも日本でも生鮮食料品を扱っているウォルマートなどのスーパーの業績は伸びているが、これは生鮮食料品が不要不急ではない必需品で、しかも貯蔵に限界があるからだ。だがそれ以上にGAFA、特にアマゾンが伸びたのがこの2、3カ月だという。なおリーマンショックと違って金融機関が当初の問題の発生源ではなかったことから、金融ショックはあまりクローズアップされていないが、個人の収入が減少し、企業業績が下がっていけば、金融機関のバランスシートは棄損し、金融危機へのマグマが溜まってきている状況であるとも考えられる。このような状況で、「すべての人と組織において２つの『シンカ』が問われている」と田中氏は言う。「シンカ」は、「真価」と「進化」のダブル・ミーニングだ。まず「真価」とは、人や組織の真の価値である。さらには、その人やその組織が本当は何を信じているのか、言い換えれば、価値観やブランドバリューなども真価だろう。昔なら、言葉は悪いが「きれいごと」を並べても通用した。だがソーシャルnetworkや内部通報などできれいごとの裏側にある本音を含めすべてが透けて見える時代となった。たとえば、良品計画の100％子会社が連邦破産法11条（チャプター11）を申請したが、田中氏は、これはまさに上場企業としての真価を問われる行動であり、今後3～5年にわたってボディーブロー的に悪い影響を与える行動だと指摘する。良品計画は「再生手続きの申請に関するお知らせ」に「倫理的で誠実な良品をリーズナブルな価格で広く提供していく企業になるために（中略）地域社会との連携強化」と記載している。だが田中氏によれば、チャプター11の申請は日本の本体においてはまだ余力があったのに債務不履行を選んだということであり、米国現地において「地域社会」の債権者から見れば、「倫理的で誠実な行動」と見做すのは困難。自社で謳っている「理念」と矛盾する、誠実とは言えない行為ではないかと指摘する。もう1つの「進化」とは変化に対応し、トランスフォーメーションを起こすということである。たとえば「7割経済」に対応することを考えてみよう。7割経済がずっと続けば生き残れる会社はほとんどないが、中期的にはそれを機と捉えて、事業構造・収益構造・財務構造を三位一体で改革することが「進化」だ。これは単なるリストラでは達成不可能で、トランスフォーメーションが必要となる。事業構造の改革とは、単一のセグメントに依存していた事業を多重化すること。収益構造の改革とは、損益分岐点売上高を下げること、すなわちより少ない売上で収益を上げる体質・仕組み・組織を作り上げることだ。財務構造の改革とは、ROE（自己資本利益率）よりもROA（総資本利益率）を重視し、自己資本比率を高めていくような取り組みだ。どれも単純なリストラでは達成不可能であり、トランスフォーメーションを伴う改革が必要だ。【次ページ】「GAFAの次にくるもの」10のポイントTo List
